ESOS PHASE 3 NOTIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE NOW AVAILABLE

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)* reporting system, the Manage your Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme reporting system (MESOS) is now available for participants to register, complete and submit their Notifications of Compliance.

The ESOS as an energy assessment and energy savings scheme mandates all large undertakings and groups containing large undertakings in the UK to carry out an ESOS-compliant energy assessment, identify energy efficiency opportunities, and complete and submit notifications of compliance.

Organisations must take part in ESOS if their organisation, or any UK undertakings in their organisation’s group, qualifies as a large undertaking on the qualification date. The qualification date for the third compliance period is 31 December 2022.

A large undertaking is any UK undertaking that meets one or both of the following conditions:

1. employs 250 or more people
2. has an annual turnover in excess of £44 million and an annual balance sheet total in excess of £38 million

The MESOS system will be updated in the coming months to allow for the completion of the Action Plans.
