ENVIRONMENT EXECUTIVE
JOB PURPOSE
London Luton Airport is looking for an Environment Executive to play a critical role in our journey towards becoming champions in Sustainable Aviation. You will have the opportunity to support the Sustainability Team and drive our sustainability performance and reporting to the next level:
- Support the airport’s ambition to become Net Zero by 2040 and carbon neutral by 2026
- Management, analysis and verification of sustainability data, including developing the sustainability reporting tool to hold all relevant sustainability data
- Ensure continuing high standards of the Environment ISO14001 and Energy ISO50001 management systems and demonstrating best practice

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Continued maintenance of ISO14001 and ISO50001 management systems including internal auditing, continuous environmental improvement and external audits
- Develop and manage Sustainability Reporting Program including liaison with departments to ensure timely provision of data
- Develop and maintain compliance obligations register, reviewing upcoming legislation and policies, engaging with colleagues and developing new processes to address impacts
- Collation, trend analysis and reporting of sustainability data with the aim of identifying trends and ensuring continuous improvement in our sustainability performance
- Working with specialist consultancies at project initiation stage to provide data and other required information
- To oversee the carbon footprint process identifying opportunities, gathering data across site and producing accurate carbon emissions for all related activities to meet growing demands
- Ensure best practice performance, governance and implementation, as well as collaborating with other departments including providing training and advice
- Work with conversion factors, formulas and excel spreadsheets to produce robust data for reporting obligations such as the airports Responsible Business Strategy
- Support the Sustainability Team in delivery of relevant projects including engagement with infrastructure managers, consultants and contractors
SECONDARY TASKS:
- Supporting the Climate Resilience Manager and the Energy and Environment Manager to develop and implement processes to meet Sustainability Strategy targets
- Develop and maintain accuracy of utilities meter tree identifying and resolving issues as required. Develop a process for amendments to ensure an accurate metering system.
- Co-ordinate the maintenance and calibration of air quality monitoring equipment including data analysis to promote reductions and assist in annual air quality report preparation
- Collate and analyse water sampling data against environmental permits and trade effluent constraints; develop reports, investigate issues, equipment maintenance contracts
- Working with the waste supplier, analyse waste trends and support the development of waste improvements including ensuring compliance requirements are met
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in technical environmental and analytical roles
- A relevant degree in environment, science or similar studies would be desirable
- Experience of working with Management Systems, such as ISO14001 and ISO50001
- Strong data management related experience, preferably relating to sustainability
- A highly organised approach to managing themselves and their work to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical skills including extensive use of database systems and excel spreadsheets Highly accurate individual, self-checking to ensure precise and correct information is produced Strong communication skills including liaison, collaboration and influencing of key stakeholders The ability to work under pressure and on multiple projects at one time
- Self-motivated, a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of best practice, relevant legislation and policy
